Ohio Funeral Directors Association
Ceremony, Grief, Memorialization
Instinctively we come together when death happens. The need to be comforted and the need to offer comfort is part of what it means to be human. In 2020, our traditional ways of coming together were put on pause and the effects have been immensely felt around the globe. As funeral professionals, managing our own health, stress, and fear while trying to comfort families we can't physically get close to can be overwhelming at times. But never has there been a time when humans need more authentic and healing connections than right now. Ceremonies, rituals, and self-care can help bridge the gap, creating deep and meaningful funeral experiences in this challenging time of distance.
